Chase Utley, who spent 13 years with the Phillies and an additional four with the Los Angeles Dodgers, is the newest member of the MLB The Show 22 Legends roster. The second baseman retired in 2018 having played in 1,937 games and finishing with 1,885 hits.

The Legends roster routinely grows in number as time passes, usually following a retirement of significance. Utley’s inclusion into the roster, which includes greats like Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, was heavily speculated on after MLB The Show 22 teased the announcement earlier this week. With names like Kirk Gibson and Randy Johnson filling out the star-packed lineup, one has to wonder how many more names will be revealed between now and the game’s launch.
A six-time All Star, four-time Silver Slugger, and a World Series Champion in 2008, Utley rose to super stardom early in his career and never looked back. In his third year in the MLB, he finished 13th in MVP voting, at the age of 26. One year later he earned his first Silver Slugger award and All-Star Game appearance, finishing 7th in MVP voting. One year removed from a successful debut on the Xbox platform, MLB The Show 22 is set to hit the Nintendo Switch for the first time ever. With the delay in the 2022 MLB season and the cancellation of RBI Baseball 22, this game will serve as a bridge for baseball fans, providing them with something to look forward to. Following the delay of spring training, the MLB players and owners could not reach an agreement in a sufficient time, forcing the postponement of the start of the 2022 season, and the cancellation of the first two series.
MLB The Show 22 releases on April 5 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
