Some of them prove to be valuable mentors, while others take on antagonistic roles towards Harry and his friends. These characters from games may have the credentials to excel as Hogwarts instructors.
10 Korrina
One of the main aspects of Defence Against The Dark Arts is instructing Hogwarts students on how to protect themselves from dark magic. This includes dark creatures like zombies, werewolves, and snakes. While there are many professors and teachers in Pokemon, this class may need an expert on dark creatures’ weaknesses.
One of those weaknesses is the Fighting-type, which in the Pokemon series deals 2x damage to all Dark-type Pokemon. Korrina, a Fighting-type Gym Leader from Pokemon X & Y, would be a perfect candidate for this. She’s also an expert on Mega Evolution, making her a pretty powerful ally for Hogwarts’ students.
9 Vivi
Most teachers of Defence Against The Dark Arts are magicians who are experienced in dark magic themselves. This includes teachers like Remus Lupin and Severus Snape. Vivi Ornitier, from Final Fantasy IX, would make for a great instructor in that case, as this character’s race in the game is a Black Mage.
As a Black Mage, Vivi’s specialties in combat include Black Magic and Focus. With this type of power, Vivi could be very useful to Hogwarts students who are looking to improve their own wizarding methods. He’s also a fairly morally just character, which definitely gives him a leg up on some previous Dark Arts professors.
8 Bayonetta
The Umbra Witch known as Bayonetta is an obvious choice to teach at Hogwarts. Not only is she well-versed in Dark Arts, but she also brings to the table several methods of attack unseen elsewhere in Hogwarts. Most students at Hogwarts utilize their wands in and out of combat, but Bayonetta has a more unconventional weapon.

Bayonetta’s main form of attack is through her Bullet Arts. Equipped with guns in each hand and on her high heels, she’s able to attack evil creatures from several directions at once. This would be a highly advanced but very convenient form of attack for wizards at Hogwarts who are used to fighting in one direction.
7 Robin
The Fire Emblem franchise is chockful of good candidates to teach Defence Against The Dark Arts. Among some of their best choices is Robin, the Avatar character from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Despite his loss of memory, Robin proves to be an excellent magician, as well as a masterful tactician alongside the Shepherds.
Not only does Robin have the authority and expertise to teach at Hogwarts, but he’s also a useful soldier to have around. He’s both loyal and trustworthy, as well as tactful and efficient. The next time someone as evil as Voldemort wages war on Hogwarts Castle, Robin’s strategies will likely prove successful.

Their bond later helps Ciri recover from recurring nightmares. Who knows what Yennefer could’ve done if she had mentored Harry Potter.
5 Donald Duck
To be completely honest, it would be very odd for the students of Hogwarts to attend a class taught by Donald Duck. However, the Kingdom Hearts series proves that the iconic cartoon character has a lot of credibility in the world of magic. When the first game begins, Donald is the Royal Magician of King Mickey’s castle.

Next to Sora, Donald is one of the few party members in the first Kingdom Hearts who can utilize magic abilities. This obviously makes him a vital asset to Hogwarts’ lineup. Unfortunately, his role as instructor of Defence Against The Dark Arts would be impeded by students’ inability to understand him through his quacks.
4 Princess Zelda
Many iterations of Zelda have appeared throughout the Legend of Zelda franchise. Most of them would probably make great Defence Against The Dark Arts teachers, but one incarnation most of all. That would be Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, who is also the most fleshed-out version of the character.
In Breath of the Wild, Zelda accompanies Link in recruiting the four Champions of Hyrule to pilot the Divine Beasts. Her goal is to eliminate Calamity Ganon from the land, meaning that her role in the games is more researcher than royalty. This knowledge she possesses certainly makes her valuable in training young students.
3 Palutena
Who better to teach about defending against dark magic than the Goddess of Light herself? Palutena made a very brief appearance in the first Kid Icarus game for NES, but in Kid Icarus: Uprising, she’s a stand-out character. Not only is she an incredibly powerful deity, but she’s also a charismatic and charming ally for Pit.
Palutena’s magical abilities as seen in Uprising are probably only a fraction of her potential power. Where she really shines is in how compassionate she is to Pit, to humanity, and even towards other gods (sometimes). Hogwarts would certainly be lucky to have a goddess as powerful and courageous as Palutena on their staff.
2 Rosalina
With only one major appearance in a mainline Mario game, Rosalina has proven to be a fan favorite after many years. That’s possibly because, in her debut, fans got to learn a lot about her backstory, making her an incredibly deep and compelling figure. It also helps that she is the protector of the cosmos, befriending the local Lumas.

In fact, Rosalina’s relationship with the Lumas, as well as her management of the Comet Observatory, already feels teacher-like. Perhaps if Hogwarts added a pre-school or kindergarten program, Rosalina would be a perfect choice. For now, she would probably just end up being a favored teacher by Luna Lovegood.
1 Byleth
While a Fire Emblem character already appeared on this list, Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ similarities to Harry Potter are worthy of a separate mention. The game follows Byleth, the professor of a class of students at Garreg Mach Monastery. Players control Byleth and take on the role of a real instructor to students.
Out of all the entries on this list, Byleth has the most direct experience in instructing students. Not only does he aid students in both Faith and Reason-style magic, but he also helps them with their weapon expertise and personalities. Overall, Byleth basically already teaches Defence Against The Dark Arts in his own game’s world.
